PROBLEMA RICONOSCIMENTO DISCO ESTERNO

Ciao a tutti,
ho comprato un disco interno da 2.5" con un connettore USB-SATA in modo da poterlo utilizzare come un normale disco esterno.

Il sistema funziona benissimo con pc e portatile, ma collegandolo al Synology (DS210j con ultimo firmware), questo mi viene riconosciuto come potete vedere dall'immagine allegata, ma stranamente non lo visualizzo nè nell'albero di file station nè da nessun'altra parte!

Potreste gentilmente illuminarmi?

Mi sa che rileva la periferica ma non il disco collegato al dispositivo.

Ci sarà sicuramente qualche comando linux. Se hai un vecchio box usb usa quello.

fdisk -l

dalla consolle loggato come 'root' e vedere cosa esce.

Può darsi che anziché rilevarlo come periferica rimovibile il nas lo identifichi come se fosse un disco connesso ad un controller sata (interno), di cui all'avvio monta solo i dischi connessi ai propri controller, quelli delle baie.
Forse basta un mount per farlo vedere.

mi viene un dubbio, non è che è dovuto al fatto che è formattato in NTFS?

non dovrebbe, gli hdd esterni possono essere ntfs, perderanno un po' in prestazioni ma è consentito.

il hdd usb dobrebbe essere il sdq da 500GB, sembra però che il MBR non sia del tutto standard, il nas sembra riconoscere 4 partizioni di cui alcuni parametri gli sembrano errati .... nella "partition table" dentro al MBR (master boot record) le 4 entry (partizioni primarie) hanno il settore di inizio e fine indicato in modo assoluto rispetto al disco.

Qui sembra tu abbia 4 partizioni (sdq1..4) di cui ad esempio sdq3 si trova dentro sdq1 e lo stesso dicasi per sdq4 in sdq2.

Dicevi che è un hdd da 2.5 pollici, se per caso era di un NB può darse che ci sia qualche partizione "fantasma" di recovery/preinstallazione del sistema operativo. Prova a riformattarlo (è sufficente la veloce) sul PC, dopo aver verificato ed eventualmente rimosso partizioni non standard.

grazie dei consigli, purtroppo non c'è alcuna partizione fantasma.

potresti spiegarmi se e come è possibile fare un mount "forzato" della partizione?

l'ulitmo disco (dev/sdq) è quello che dovrei far riconoscere con un mount, ma non riesco.
